Missions Strategy
The Great Commission is "The Mission"
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. - Matthew 28:19-20
Acts 1:8 is the strategy of the Church "On Mission"
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8
Missions is a process, not a program, and is the call of every believer. This process involves worshipping God, loving others, serving God and inviting others; fulfilling the Great Commandment and the Great Commission from Woodstock to the World. Come and see how you can join us in "The Mission"!
What You Can Do
There are a number of ways that you can help support the mission activities of Hyde Park Baptist Church. We'll add more detailed information in the coming weeks, but here are some things to consider:
PRAY
Pray for the Missions Committee that we can focus on God's plans, be inspired by the Holy Spirit to facilitate His work, bring glory to God and His Son Jesus Christ in all that we do.
Pray for the upcoming mission trips. Pray specifically that all the logistics issues will be met, that all the financial support will be raised, that the right people will be convicted to go, and that the hearts of those in the area of service will be softened to hear the Gospel and come to know Jesus Christ in a personal way.
PROVIDE
Every mission trip has basic needs. These include the financial support to allow people to go; the physical goods that many mission need to carry out their projects. These can include basic toiletries, children's toys, socks, clothes, furniture, eye glasses, shoes, tools, drilling equipment and a wide variety of other supplies. We will work to provide you an ongoing list of needs that you can help with.
PROMOTE
One of the biggest challenges we have in a church the size of Hyde Park is letting people know about all the opportunities, needs, and prayer requests. You can help us by telling people about the mission work at Hyde Park Baptist Church, attend the many mission oriented events that are sponsored throughout the year, and letting people know about this web site. Whether it's someone in Sunday School, a visitor in the Worship service, or a neighbor across the street, most people what to know what they can do to help others. Let them know how Hyde Park is active in missions and how they can participate.
PLAN
Every one of these mission activities takes a great amount of planning. You may not be able to actually go, but you sure can help plan. Help make travel arrangements, coordinate logistics, organize supplies, find sponsors, or a wide number of other activities that are essential to a successful mission trip.
PARTICIPATE
One of the most rewarding aspects of mission work is actually participating and seeing God at work. You may not feel like you are ready to evangelize, but do you know on many mission trips there are a wide variety of ways to participate, from cooking for volunteers, painting and repairing houses, digging a well, playing games with children and lots more. If you have the spiritual gift of evangelism, mission trips are great ways to reach many people. The world is full of the lost. Pray that you will be blessed to participate in an upcoming mission trip!

How to Pray for Missionaries
The man or woman at home who prays, often has as much to do with the effectiveness of the missionary on the field, and consequently with the results of his or her labors, as the missionary. 2 Corinthians 1
PRAY
- That more people will be obedient to go as missionaries. (See Matt. 9:37-38;28:19-20.)
- For the missionary’s relationship with God, that he or she will continue to grow spiritually and be nourished by the Word. (See Eph. 1:15-23; Phil. 1:9-11.)
- For personal needs: health, safety, family relationships, victory over discouragement and loneliness. (See Ps.91:1-4, 11.)
- For clear communication of the gospel and boldness in witnessing. (See Eph. 6:19; Col. 4:4.)
- For the lost to hear the gospel, to repent, and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. (See Rom. 10:9-10, 13; 2 Pet.3:9.)
- For acceptance by co-workers and unity in the body of Christ. (See John 17:21; Rom. 15:31.)
- For extension of his or her ministry and fruitfulness in spiritual endeavors. (See Col. 4:2-3; 2 Thess. 3:1.)
