AWANA
The name AWANA is an acronym from 2 Timothy 2:15 -- Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.
AWANA offers a fun, proven approach for early evangelism and discipleship. Scripture-based learning, exciting games and interactive teaching times each week promote Bible literacy and help kids develop lifelong faith in Christ.
Hyde Park Baptist Church
AWANA at Hyde Park meets during the school year on Sundays from 5:45-6:55pm in room S406. Children aged 3 (by Sept. 1) through 6th grade are welcome to join us! Each week, clubbers participate in:
- Handbook Time
- Game Time
- Council Time
Handbook Time
Using achievement-oriented curriculum, AWANA emphasizes memorization and understanding of key Bible verses. With a trained leader alongside to encourage and guide, clubbers develop a Bible-based view of how to know and serve God. Clubbers are rewarded for their achievements as they progress through the handbooks.
Game Time
Every AWANA Club meeting includes a high-energy Game Time featuring team competition. Game Time unleashes kids’ natural energy and enthusiasm. The AWANA Game Circle has universal appeal. Kids love AWANA games and everyone participates!
Council Time
The entire club gathers for a Bible message, singing, pledges to the American and AWANA flags, and announcements of upcoming events. One highlight of Council Time is the presentation of awards for individual handbook progress and for team competition.
