Operation Christmas Child is a great way to get involved in the evangelism and discipleship of kids around the world! OCC is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international Christian relief and evangelism organization headed by Franklin Graham. The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way by collecting shoeboxes—filled with school supplies, hygiene items, fun toys and notes of encouragement—and delivering them to children in need around the world. Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 135 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 150 countries and territories. For many of these children, the gift-filled shoebox is the first gift they have ever received.
Visit the kiosk in the Hyde Park breezeway to pick up an empty box, get more information, and watch videos about the impact of this project. Filled boxes can be dropped off in the church office.

PROCESS
- Individuals, families, churches and groups fill empty shoeboxes with school supplies, hygiene items, notes of encouragement and fun toys, such as a doll or soccer ball.
- During National Collection Week (Nov. 12 – 19, 2018), Samaritan’s Purse will collect the gift-filled shoeboxes at some 4,500 drop-off locations in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.
- You can find out how to pack a box by visiting samaritanspurse.org/occ and get ideas for what to put in the box here.
- Shoebox gifts are prepared for overseas shipment at eight major processing centers across the U.S.—Atlanta; Baltimore; Boone, NC; Charlotte, NC; Dallas; Denver; Minneapolis; and Orange County, CA.
- Participants can follow their box online to discover where in the world their gift is delivered by using the donation form found at samaritanspurse.org/occ.
Hyde Park Baptist Church is a community drop-off location again this year.
